So, any other 30 somethings had hernia surgery?...or maybe, "Hi, my name is Kris, and my intestines are falling out of my *&^#@*(*" .. I'm UBER bummed about missing the fall biking season with a linguinal hernia that requires open surgery. Wondering if anyone has any experiences with the turn around time...I know the standard answer-when your body is ready for it- applies...but am curious what others have experienced and/or any tips. I figured I'll start doing some of walking of the trails after a week or so and ease back into some super easy fire roads. I was just morbidly curious of others experiences...we're all friends here right? So why not ask?

i had the same. i'm sure after a week you'll only be walking to the bathroom. i was back at work after two weeks and walking like a little old man (sorry little old men). take it easy and don't rush anything. it took me about a year to feel like my old self but everyone is different. i deliver hardwood floor and i'm sure that had something to do with it. good luck and watch the pain meds. they will make using the bathroom a nightmare.

thanks. I'm 3 weeks out, went back to work this week. I'm riding the greenway for 30 minutes at a time or so. I'm hoping for a little ride down the kiddie trail maybe after thanksgiving as a litmus test kind of thing. I got the heads up on the pain meds, and was eating dulcolax for a week prior to surgery, which proved to be possibly the best idea ever. I work on my feet all day, I totally get the little old man reference. Looking forward to getting back out there. Hopefully be in good enough form in spring to head north to ride.
