That one nipple happened to use a different size spoke wrench, so, that was convenient...

Been there, said that!

Few small things aggravate me more than mismatched or stripped hardware, and you had them both on one set of wheels! I feel your pain, dgaddis.

Yeah, this was just a case of lazy workmanship. There is no reason it should have a different size nipple, I mean 2mm spoke nipples are the most common there are. Oh well, at least the wheels are to ride now.

Picking up another set that needs work tomorrow, then this weekend possibly correcting dish on another.

I have some spare silver 12mm alloy nipples for 2.0mm spokes if you want a few to fix him up right.

Nah, it's good. I'm not even sure if these wheels will really get ridden much...the owner replaced them with some much nicer (lighter and tubeless ready) Stan's wheels a while back. At least I got to do some wrenching.

Learned a lot the last few weeks. Had a set of wheels I built start falling apart on the first ride. NOT GOOD. Turns out the tire caused the tension to drop too low...I didn't know that was possible. Some experimenting while fixing the wheels showed that the tires being mounted caused between 18-38% drop in tension!! That is HUGE.

Sweet looking new ride! Just bought a roadie frame/fork myself. Now I need to figure out I want to go ahead and spend the big $$$ buying road wheel parts so build my own and ride something repectable or just throw away $300 buying a cheap set of wheels to get me by in the mean time.

Sweet. I'm really enjoying mine so far. I love that I can ride right out of the driveway and get in a good ride/workout in an hour, door to door. I'll spend almost an hour getting to and from a MTB trail, so when time is short, the roadie is nice. I'll be commuting on it too, already got some lights and rack put on it.

No idea. But the bikes are built and the kids are riding them! Hopefully I'll get some pictures eventually.

Another update on the blog - new 29er hoops for Keith. HUGE weight loss and smoother ride thanks to ditching the tubes.

I've been "looking" for some 20" MTB tires to throw on my F4 for a while (by looking I simply mean browsing bike shops, not a real search.)

I love the new blog post. I'm almost done with rehab so the jones'ing to go ride is getting even stronger. I've been spending my time looking at what to upgrade. HuckNRoll has a deal on shoes right now so I'm looking at 5-10s, but I keep coming back to a dropper post or a tubeless setup. Thankfully, I'd just have to pull the old tubes and add sealant (I think), but the thought of new rims and saving 3 lbs sounds pretty tempting!
